Gadwal Sarees are traditionally woven in the interlocked-weft technique (called kupadam or tippadamu locally) often with kumbam (also called kotakomma) in the borders and such sarees are known as a kotakomma or kumbam sarees. Most popular varieties in these sarees include Cotton, Sico and Silk sarees. Cotton Sarees are made of purely unbleached cotton. These sarees have resplendent shades, embellished often with silk checks. The Sico sarees are weaved with the mix of Silk and Cotton (50% and 50% mostly). The Silk sarees are purely made using the complete silk (called pattu locally). Thus people from all over India and buyers from foreign countries show a tremendous fascination for Gadwal sarees.
